We’ve always loved travelling - the places, the food, the drinks, and those little things you discover somewhere else that stay with you long after you leave.

For us, one of those things was cherry beer.

We’d come across it throughout Europe - from Belgium and France to Germany and Hungary - but it was while living in Budapest that it really became part of our lives.

Bright red in the glass, crisp, refreshing and unmistakably cherry, yet still familiar enough to drink like a proper beer. It was different, without feeling difficult.

And we never really forgot it.

From European summers to ours.

When we returned to Australia, we realised something: for a style of beer so established across Europe, it was surprisingly hard to find here.

So rather than recreate a European beer, we set out to make our own expression of it - something designed for the way we drink in Australia and the place we call home.

Gold Coast Cherry takes the familiarity and refreshment of a crisp lager and gives it an unexpected twist with real cherry and a distinctive deep-red pour.

We didn’t create Gold Coast Cherry simply to put another beer on the tap.

We want it to become a signature Gold Coast beverage - something locals make their own, visitors discover while they’re here, and eventually associate with the place itself.

Because while Gold Coast Cherry is very much a beer, it doesn’t have to live only in traditional beer moments.

Its crisp lager base keeps it refreshing and familiar, while its colour, cherry character and personality let it sit just as naturally at a long lunch, on arrival at an event, beside the pool or overlooking the water - the kinds of moments usually reserved for a spritz, cocktail or glass of sparkling.
